As one of the innovative companies in Thailand GTZ will take part in this year's InnoMart in Bangkok. GTZ will present innovative concepts of sustainable development within the Thai-German partnership programme, with a special focus on renewable resources and energy efficiency (bioplastics, biomass, management instruments, financial and eco-efficiency services).

To promote Thai organic food, the PEC joins a booth with the Department of Foreign Trade and the Office of the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce. In addition, GTZ will also help in organizing study tours on organic market development for Thai key players, both from public and private sector.

The Forum focused on policy instruments promoting "Organic Thailand", i.e. market-oriented promotion of consumption and production of environmentally-friendly products, energy efficiency and innovations for eco-efficient value chains.

At the 7th Asia Pacific Roundtable for Sustainable Consumption and Production (APRSCP) GTZ has conducted a workshop on "New Developments in Eco-Industrial Development". The APRSCP mission is to foster dialog among stakeholders in the region to address pollution problems and solutions.

To increase the market share, the Thai-German programme supports Thai producers to present their organic products (with focus on longan, shrimp, saa-paper and bio-plastics) at this year's Biofach and to visit best practise farmers and institutions.

At the opening of the international conference and exhibition InnoBioPlast 2006 (21-24 September 2006) at Siam Paragon, Bangkok, a Memorandum of Understanding between the National Innovation Agency (NIA), the Thai Bioplastics Society (TBS) and the GTZ has been signed for a project to promote bioplastics in Thailand.
